Marc’s trip to Colorado to see Tool at the Red Rocks
Amphitheatre
July/August 2001
I left Austin on Tuesday,
July 31 and stayed the night in Denver.
On Wednesday, August 1 I
spent the night in Estes Park.
On Thursday, August 2 I
spent the night in Fraser (Winter Park).
On Friday, August 3 I saw
the Tool show & spent the night back in Denver.
I came home in the morning
on Saturday, August 4.
I took the following roads (it
is surprisingly difficult to find good maps on the net):
o
70 from the airport to 36
o
36 to Boulder
o
119 to Nederland
o
72 to 7 (just north of Raymond)
o
7 to Estes Park
o
Through RMNP on 36 to 34
(Trail Ridge Road)
o
34 to Grand Lake
o
34 to Granby
o
40 to Fraser
o
40 to 70 near Lawson
o
70 to 103 near Idaho Springs
o
103 to Echo Lake
o
103 to Bergen Park, through
Squaw Pass
o
74 to Evergreen, Kittredge, Idledale,
and finally Morrison
o
Back to the airport area!
I have a bunch of video but
it’ll take awhile to get it all put together and burned on CDs.
The following links will
take you to pictures & descriptions of different legs of the trip (not all
are finished). Please excuse the poor
quality photos – I have a cheapo 35mm camera J

Trail Ridge Road
Scenic Hwy 103
There are a lot of gaps in
the record. I was fickle with my
pictures J There’s nothing of the trip on Hwy 34
through Grand Lake down to Fraser.
Also, there’s nothing between Bergen Park (Hwy 103 & 74) and
Morrison via Hwy 74 through Evergreen & Kittredge. I got tired of being the shutter-happy
tourist and just enjoyed the scenery.
